Sandec (www.sandec.ch), the Department of Water and Sanitation in Developing Countries at the Swiss Federal Institute for Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag), is conducting a study on the potential of biogas production out of municipal solid waste (MSW) in low- and middle-income countries. The study is mainly focused on case studies of existing, currently working biogas plants that produce biogas mainly out of solid waste, such as kitchen waste (food waste), brewery waste, coffee pulp (agricultural waste) etc.

Do you know of such biogas plants?

We would be very grateful if you provide us some information (case studies / further contacts) on that issue.

Best regards,

Christian Müller

At the university of Dschang, in Cameroon and precisely in the renewable energy laboratory we have developed several biogas technologies including its utilisation for electricity generation. We have sucessfully applied some of these technologies in several projects both in and out of Cameroon. At the moment we are testing several adaptations for the diesel and the petrol engine to run exclusively on biogas. For more on this visit julius_tangka.webs.com

Take breaks throughout the day. It will help clear your mind and relieve pressure. Something as simple as going to the water cooler for a drink may do the trick. To help your workday go smoothly, try pacing your activities.

YES A GOOD INNOVATION TO HELP IN RECYCLING WASTE FOR MORE BENEFITS TO HUMANITY. COUNCILS AND INSTITUITIONS SHOULD WASTE NO TIME TO EMBRACE AND BE ASSISTED BY THE EXPERTS TO CONSTRUCT FOR THEM THESE NEW CHEAP PROJECTS.

All is but lip-wisdom that wants experience.Expericence is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards. Do you think so?

GHIIA Kilian NSOM

I am called GHIIA Kilian NSOM(Civil Eng.), Douala Cameroon. I just tumbled on your article and am quite pleased with that. As a matter of fact, I presented a project proposal"Biogas Sanitation for Poor Urban Homes" case study Bonaloka, Souboum, New Bell etc in Douala, in Stuttgart, Germany in November 2009 for the Mondialogo Engineering Award. This project proposal won a bronze medal. Back in Cameroon, I havre realised a trial unit in Douala which will be commpleted any moment from now. For now, the project is being evaluated and modified. I think Cameroonians should be encouraged to install such systems. Anyone interested get to me through +237-75019297 or kilsghiia@yahoo.com
