“Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst”. This promise by Christ to be ever present among any gathering that holds in the name and glory of His Father was palpably evident in Kribi from January 6th to 12th, where the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon held its 28th conference.
Today is the Lord's Day, the Feast of the Epiphany of our Lord Jesus Christ, second step of the Feast of Christmas. Let us celebrate the Risen Christ. He who transforms our tears to joy; He who passes from death to life.
Reverend Fr Clement Ndjewel, Parish Priest of the Ss Peter and Paul Cathedral in Douala, is the secretary general of the commission that worked on the just adopted Catechism for the Catholic Church in Cameroon, on which the bishops deliberated for a week in Kribi, before finally annexing their endorsement. After the final session, Fr Clement told L'Effort camerounais about the work it entailed and the obstacles they had to surmount. He also spoke of the business arrangement that the gambling house, PMUC, has with the Diocese of Douala. Excerpts:
Blessed and officially opened to the public on December 10, 2006 during the proclamation of the title of a basilica on the Marial Sanctuary by the representative of Pope Benedict XXI, Jean Louis Cardinal Tauran, the Basilica Door was closed January 7, the Feast of the Epiphany.
