The Yaounde Archbishop, Mgr Victor Tonye Bakot, who is presently receiving treatment in Paris, France, following a recent ghastly accident, will be back in Cameroon in the days ahead. The Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, Mgr Antonio
Eliseo Ariotti, broke the good news during a press conference at the
John XXIII Centre, Mvolye on Thursday, June 19.
News of Mgr victor Bakot's fast recovery and imminent return to Yaounde came on the sidelines of the appointment of Mgr Joseph Befe Ateba, the Yaounde Archdiocese Vicar General as the first Bishop of Kribi Diocese, whose creation was equally made known to the faithful and media practitioners during the press conference.
Mgr Antonio Ariotti said before Mgr Joseph Ateba's Episcopal ordination, he will be drilled by the Bishop of Ebolowa, Mgr Jean Mbarga, the Yaounde Archbishop, Mgr Victor Tonye Backot and finally by the Nuncio himself, to keep him abreast with the task awaiting him as the first ever Bishop of Kribi.
The date of Mgr Joseph Ateba's ordination is yet to be announced. Mgr Ariotti, however, indicated that after the newly appointed bishops in Cameroon complete their course in Rome this September, the ordination of Mgr Ateba will be take place during the first week of October in Kribi.
