Dropping the Pilot:Christian Cardinal Tumi Retires, His Grace Samuel Kléda Takes Over Command

After over forty three (43) years of a fruitful Pastoral Ministry marked by a meteoric rise from a priest, through a Bishop, to Cardinal, the ecclesial pilot has finally been dropped, as Pope Benedict XVI has accepted Christian Cardinal Tumi’s resignation after he attained the ripe age of 75 as Canon Law prescribes.  Christian Cardinal Tumi has officially handed over the Pastoral governance of the Metropolitan See of Douala to his former Coadjutor Archbishop, His Grace Samuel Kleda. As Christian Emeritus Cardinal Tumi takes a deserved rest, L’Effort Camerounais welcomes the new Archbishop.
