Yaounde Archbishop, His Grace Victor Tonye Bakot, is now the Catholic University for Central Africa’s new chancellor. He has replaced Christian Cardinal Tumi who has retired after holding the position for the past 18 years.
Speaking during the handing over and official new school year launching ceremony, His Grace, Victor Tonye Bakot described his new duties as an assignment from God and expressed his readiness to assume them fully. UCAC rector, Rev. Fr. Christian Mofor, said UCAC has recorded remarkable success in recent years and promised better days ahead.
He paid tribute to the former Chancellor, Christian Cardinal Tumi, who he described as a fountain, mentor and pillar of academic excellence even as he goes on a deserved retirement. Catholic universities are sprouting in Cameroon as the church looks forward to the opening of other universities in Bamenda, Buea and Douala.
