The transfer of pastoral governance in Douala Archdiocese, which started on November 3, 2007, when Pope Benedict XVI appointed Mgr. Samuel Kléda as Douala Co-adjutor Archbishop with right of succession, is now complete. The Tumi-Kléda transition has taken place hitch-free and Mgr. Samuel Kléda is now in effective command of Douala Metropolitan See. As was the case on January 12, 2008, when thousands of Christians turned out to welcome Mgr. Kléda in Douala, an equally enthusiastic and even bigger crowd thronged the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral esplanade on January 1 and 9 to take part, first, in Cardinal Tumi’s goodbye Mass and next, Mgr. Samuel Kléda’s presentation Mass.
