Limbe inhabitants are gradually recovering from the trauma some Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, soldiers caused when they stormed the town, brutalising civilians, and overturning and destroying property estimated at millions of francs. The soldiers had 34 people clubbed, claiming a BIR soldier was beaten in Down Beach Limbe two weeks back.
The soldiers are reported to have stormed the houses and shops of those they suspected to have beaten their colleague. The BIR Commander has, however, expressed regrets over the incident and said those responsible will be punished as the act violates BIR’s code of ethics. He acknowledged some recalcitrant soldiers, some who have even been jailed for various reasons, continue to blight the corps. He said the wounded are being treated free and those whose property had been destroyed will be compensated.
Trained to combat organised crime on land and at sea, BIR is becoming notorious for turning against the people it is expected to protect.

why should they behaved like that. I thought they are to protect the people and their properties and not brutalising.

monster that feeds on its victims blood, thats what paul biya and its camerounis to southern cameroons, nothing would stop him, even death, his country men 12m all believe we were born slaves to serve them, our land and women belongs to them, only independence for southern cameroons would solve this attrocities.
