Mgr. Francis Teke Lysinge, Bishop of Mamfe
As a recent Presbyterial Council recommended, the Bishop of Mamfe, His Lordship Francis Teke lysinge, has created new parishes and quasi-parishes in Mamfe Diocese to increase pastoral outreach and make it more effective. While waiting for the clergy’s pastoral assignment to be defined when the Appointment Committee meets soon, the Bishop has announced more territorial changes should also be expected.

Rev. and Dear Fathers,
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,
RE: CREATION OF NEW PARISHES IN THE DIOCESE OF MAMFE
Greetings of peace and love!
On Tuesday, 9th of February, 2010, the Presbyterial Council met in Mamfe. Among other resolutions and suggestions made to me, was the necessity to redefine the boundaries of our parishes in the diocese, so that pastoral work can be enhanced. We noted that we can reasonably and conveniently talk about "pure missionary parishes" in both the Mamfe and Fontem deaneries. With this in mind, we wish to encourage our priests to engage in this mission ad gentes within the diocese, while thanking all Christ's faithful for their continuous support for the pastoral mission of our diocese.
Consequently, and following the recommendation made to me by the Presbyterial Council of the diocese, I have decided to erect the following parishes and quasi-parishes, with the sole intention of promoting the missionary work in the diocese:
1. Kembong Quasi-Parish is now raised to a full parish.
2. Afap Quasi-Parish is now raised to a full parish.
3. Catholic Mission Bachuo-Akagbe becomes a quasi-parish with territory taken as well from Mbeme Parish, while Catholic Mission Okoyong retains the status of a Chaplaincy.
4. Catholic Mission Nchang is raised to a quasi-parish, with territory carved out of St. Joseph's Cathedral Parish, Mamfe, that is, Banya, Lala, Besong-Abang, Ndekwai and Ntenako.
6. Catholic Mission Nzanchen is raised to a quasi-parish, with territory carved out of Mbetta Parish, comprising of all the mission stations that make up the Essoh-Ettah and Fotabong III Fondoms.
Following these new pastoral and juridical circumscriptions, I have decided to make the following appointments, pending the full pastoral assignment of the clergy once the Appointment Committee meets after Easter, when God willing, the diocese would have been blessed with new priests and some fidei donum priests from the church in Nigeria. May I state here that more territorial changes will still be made in both the Mamfe and Fontem deaneries around the same time.
The following priests are hereby appointed to these new pastoral placements:
1. Rev. Fr. Peter Chikelue is appointed Father-in-charge of St. Anthony's quasi-parish, Banya.
2. Rev. Fr. Peter Paul Ibeagha is appointed acting Father-in-charge of Nchang quasi-parish.
3. Rev. Fr. Julius Agbortoko is appointed acting Father-in-charge of Nzanchen quasi-parish.
The appointments that affect Nchang and Nzanchen take effect from the date of the publication of this circular, pending the official opening on a date to be agreed upon by the priests and pastoral councils concerned. The appointment concerning St. Anthony, Banya, shall take effect from Thursday, 25th of March, 2010, Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.
I wish the following fathers and Christian communities concerned God's abundant blessings and assure you of my closeness and support. Do not be afraid, it is the Lord's work!
Sincerely in Christ Jesus
+Francis T. Lysinge
