Mgr. Cornelius Esua
After 22 priests were ordained into Christ’s vineyard on Friday, April 09, 2010, an event that marked a remarkable juncture in the history of St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Bambui, the Archbishop of Bamenda, His Grace Cornelius Esua, was exuberant. He shares his joy with L’Effort Camerounais.
Oh yes! I am certainly very happy for it is a wonderful gift to us during the Year for Priests. After three years that we have had no candidate from Bamenda Archdiocese ordained into the Priesthood, I think this is a wonderful grace from God.
What happened that for three years Bamenda Archdiocese did not have a single candidate ordained?
Well, there were some years we did not have candidates. If you go down the years in the seminary, some of those had many candidates, but none was from Bamenda Archdiocese.
Can the Christian community hope for a new trend with Fr. Emmanuel Seninka’s ordination today?
I hope so. If everything goes well next year we may have three candidates. The numbers are increasing.
So, there is hope Christians from Bamenda Archdiocese shall soon forget about the problem of shortage of priests…
Oh yes! I hope so too because there is great improvement as far as we continue to get more vocations and more ordinations, I am sure the Lord will take care and we may soon forget about the shortage of priests.
