Many Christians do not only regret that many Church structures and cemeteries are not well maintained, but also that some of these structures, especially old buildings, which could serve as touristic and pilgrimage centres, are being torn down. To understand the Church’s mindset in maintaining and sustaining her structures, L’Effort Camerounais met and discussed with the Auxiliary Bishop of Bamenda who provides some insights on the subject you cannot afford to miss. Many a Catholic Community in Cameroon has adopted what is generally referred to as the "Lectionary Procession". As an introduction to the Liturgy of the Word, Lectionary is brought to the President of the Liturgical Assembly in a colourful procession, very often marked by song and dance. While the general populace delights in the singing and dancing that accompany this procession, some Christians find it too time-consuming and loudly call for such processions to be either tightly controlled or banned altogether. To know more, we asked Rev. Fr. Zephyrinus Mbuh, SD, a liturgical expert (liturgist) of the Diocese of Kumbo in the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province of Cameroon, to throw more light on this issue.

Rev.Fr. Michael Mua Ebua: Curate St. Joseph Metropolitan Cathedral Bamenda
God is our Heavenly Father. He knows what we need even before we ask. It is not by saying long prayers, shouting or making noise that God is going to answer our prayers. We cannot ask God to change His will for us. When we pray we simply have to repeat Jesus’ words; May your will Lord, not mine be done. God hears and answers our prayers in two ways. When it is in accordance with His will and for our personal sanctification, He grants our requests. When it is not in accordance with His will, no matter how we either pray, shout, fast or organise vigils, He will not grant us our requests because He best knows what is good for us.

Rev. Fr. Christopher Kum
Prayer is one of the greatest tools in the world because it opens the door to dialogue with God. Though many people often question the need to intercede with God through the Saints, the Assistant Parish Priest of SS Peter and Paul Cathedral Parish, Rev. Fr. Christopher Geh Kum, says saints are alive and work for our good. He also enjoins Christians to examine their consciences before praying as sin often blocks God from answering their prayers. Excerpts:
