Nigerian Elections: Well Done! (Part 1)

The readers would probably have already heard or read by now that both local and international election observers have praised the last Nigerian elections as a great improvement over past elections. They probably also heard or read that I was one of the international observers of the elections. Since the Nigerian elections are a momentous event shortly before our own elections in October 2011, it is worth sharing some experiences.

Kumbo Council adopts revolutionary budget

Kumbo Council 2011 budget, christened “The Road Revolution Budget”, stands at FCFA 736.759.900. The amount was adopted on November 9, 2010, during an ordinary council session in the recently constructed council hall.

New Bui Senior Divisional Officer installed

The new Senior Divisional Officer for Bui, Bernard Ngone Ndode Mesape, has officially been commissioned. North West Governor Abakar Ahamat installed him on June 30 at the Tobin Municipal Stadium. He takes over from Daniel Panjouono who has retired.
During the colourful ceremony Governor Abakar Ahamat called on the new SDO to ensure peace and to be impartial. He also enjoined the Bui population to collaborate with the new SDO to foster development in Bui.

East Governor installs Senior Divisional Officers across the East Region

East Region Governor Lele L’Afrique recently toured the region installing Senior Divisional Officers, SDOs, in the region’s four divisions.
Governor Lele L’Afrique started in the divisional headquarters of Boumba and Ngoko Division, Yokadouma, on Tuesday, June 29 and continued to Batouri on Friday, July 1, 2010. In a colourful ceremony that brought together traditional chiefs in Yokadouma, the outgoing SDO, Mising Mimbang, after close to five years in office, handed over to Eloi Gabriel Essoa.
