Serious manhunt launched for fled SCNC activist

Muyuka, September,. Police and gendarmes in Muyuka, Southwest province of Camerooon have embarked on a serious manhunt for members of the Cameroon separatist movement, the Southern Cameron National Council (SCNC).  The hunt comes on the heels of the February, 2008 social upheavals in

Cameroon and ahead of the October 1, when SCNC celebrate their independence day. A police officer who spoke to L’Effort camerounais on condition of anonymity said, officials of the movement in Muyuka among whom is a certain Amin Morfaw Patrick, a teacher by profession and the Organizing Secretary for Muyuka are wanted by security forces for interrogation.

Anti- corruption Commission bent on reining in all corrupt officials, even the Head of State, Commission head, Paul Tessa, says

The National anti-Corruption Commission President, Paul Tessa, has said his organisation will leave no stone unturned in its fight against corruption. He said the commission's apparent long arm could seize anybody, even the Head of State, Paul Biya, if the need arises. The Commission head was speaking recently in Yaounde during a press briefing marking the solemn launching of NACC's communication activities.

Fru Ndi and militant detainees express satisfaction over adjournment of much awaited case

The case brought against Ni John Fru Ndi, chairman of Cameroon's frontline opposition party, the Social Democratic Front, and some of his party militants by the Diboule family, was on August 19, adjourned to October 13, amidst satisfaction from SDF scribes and detainees who appeared in court with party T-shirts.

Relatives of murdered DO and other Cameroonians express frustration

of Nigeria from the disputed Bakassi Peninsular, unidentified gunmen have again dealt a crippling blow to the tottering peace process between Cameroon and Nigeira. Some Cameroonians, including the Divisional Officer of Kombo Abedimo-Bakassi, Felix Fonya Morfaw, were on June 8, abducted and  killed by yet to be identified militiamen.

18th anniversary commemoration: SDF takes stock, reiterates Biya- Fru Ndi encounter

Shortly before the Social Democratic Front, SDF, celebrated its 18th anniversary, the national Executive Committee met at the national chairman's residence in Ntarikon to evaluate the state of affairs in the country. The meeting was preceded by a review of the shadow cabinet during which the SDF chairman gave new instructions.

Ephraim Inoni’s “controversial” support from SW chiefs

Inoni_ephraimPrime Minister Ephraim Inoni, was in Buea last May 24, to
chair the highly publicised All South West Development Conference. However,  the real motive of the meeting remains shrouded in controversy. The Conference, might have been captioned a 'development and reconciliation' forum, but many  think  the PM's trip to the South West was to garner the province's support for President Biya and to maintain the PM’s name in  President Biya’s “good book”.

Two former African heads of State advocate committed and selfless leadership

Two African former statesmen have categorically blamed most African leadership for being at the heart of continent's woes. While launching a Leadership and Development Centre in Nigeria on May 06, Ghana's former Head of State, John Jerry Rawlings and former Nigerian military leader Yakubu Gowon agreed that most African leaders have failed the people. Africa therefore needs more committed and selfless leaders they agreed.

Honourable P.C Fonso clears the air on some burning issues

of Parliament for Momo East Constituency, Hon Fonso, recently gathered a cross section of journalists in Bamenda, to clear the air on what he termed vicious allegations from some unscrupulous and jealous persons involved in the political life of his constituency. He started with a comment on the July 22 twin elections. "During the elections," he declared, "something happened in Mbengwi which the press has never been told… I am going to do it now"
