I. Thanksgiving to God for the gift of Faith
1. In closing the Year of Faith, the Catholic Church in Cameroon gives thanks to God for the gift of Faith and commemorates the first missionaries, the initiators of the meeting of grace and love among the peoples of Cameroon and the Word made flesh in Christ the Saviour of mankind. The Church in Cameroon acknowledges this legacy of faith by revisiting and rewriting her history from the sacrifice of these forebears to our day missionaries, religious men and women, priests, bishops, laity, catechists, and an indigenous Cardinal. In union with Saint Paul, “Let us give thanks to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! For in union with Christ he has blessed us by giving us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Even before the world was made, God had already chosen us to be his through our union with Christ, so that we would be holy and without fault before him” (Eph 1: 3-4).
